The theory of Chinese medicine is based on the concept of free flow of energy ( Qi ) in the body. When the energy is not flowing freely anymore, blocking appears and so for illness. Acupuncture, by inserting fine needles into the body, just unlock the energy in specific meridians. Meridians are channels where the energy flows freely, when balanced.

Each branch of Chinese Medicine ensures that energy is in constant balance. The other branches being the pharmacopoeia by traditional herbs, Tuina Chinese massage, Qi Gong exercises dedicated to the flow of energy, and the Chinese diet.

Once, in ancient China, acupuncture was considered preventive medicine. People would visit the doctor on a regular basis, and when the patient fell ill , treatment was free because the doctor had not been able to prevent the disease...
